NEKOWORKs of despair [Update]
It’s the C76 shopping period for doujin collector! There were two doujins by sayori‘s circle NEKOWORKs, NEKO PARADISE, and NEKO WORKS released during the event and… I failed at getting them, it’s crazy. So in the end, all I got is chinese scan of her previous doujin, NEKO SOCKS [download]
Sayori is not so well known for western fan. However, she is quite popular in Asia, especially China, since she is herself chinese. Her style is really nice in the overall choice of color, clothes, hair. The palette of color she choose is varied and quite unique. Not many artist are recognisable only by looking at the colour; she is certainly one of them. Clothes can go from simple to the most complicated and elegant gothic lolita, especially for her twin mascots, Chocolat and Vanilla ( tasty sounding ^^). Lastly, something that I was told, is the hime cut. I realized that really few artist draw it. The hime cut is the one where you cut the front bangs to form a line, as in the opening picture. I wonder if that picture is not her autoportrait.

With such artist, getting doujinshi would have been great for my collection… except that it’s nearly impossible to get it. Most people will search on Yahoo Auction, but, there is none, be it the new ones or old doujinshi. So the solution is to rely on shops. And around midnight, on the last day of Comiket when it was released, I found both doujin on Toranoana, out of stock… They were not even in the listing of the daily update of Toranoana, and no image. It was completely gone.
So… I have to resign, I won’t get that doujin. Fans are hammering the search function of Toranoana, and there isn’t any in auction. Even if I found it earlier, chance are it would out of stock until the deputy service put the order. It’s in those case we wish for a commercial artbook.
Update: It’s available ! I think I accessed the entry before they fully added it to their database. That’s quite unusual for a shop. And it took them a few day as I was hammering it until yesterday.
I absolutely love her work but I didn’t even try to get the C76 doujin ^^; More than the colors she uses, I like her character designs. She has a very appealing style for her characters’ hair and eyes.
