Scans: Colorful Pop 1

Colorful Pop cover

I haven’t updated for a little while; I have mainly been resting since I finally some time and I felt like I was neglecting myself. Now it’s time to empty the scan buffer before starting digging into C77. I will keep this post short since people should be familiar with Izumi Tsubasu. Colorful Pop is her long series of full color doujinshi released promptly for Comiket… well not always but we are already at the 7th issue. Flipping it from Colorful Pop 1 to 7, it’s really easy to notice how Izumi Tsubasu improved, as well as her support. The firsts Colorful Pop are on cardboard paper while the latter one use plastic paper, which is a lot better. And I just noticed that one page need to be rescanned, sorry orz. I will correct it later. [PNG]

Shikata Akiko’s discography

In the middle of all the art related articles, here is one on music. I think that people discovered Shikata Akiko with Umineko no Naku Koro ni‘s opening, either the anime or the sound novel. In fact, the anime opening is the first anime related single she has ever released. Her previous works involve commercial album, OST of Ar Tonelico, and doujin music under the name VAGRANCY. Since it was requested by icie, I released a torrent of what I have from her, and I really like it so I hope you will enjoy, and I’m also taking the opportunity to make a blog post about her compositions and some of my favorite tracks. Samples are included, so get your favorite headphones, and the torrent for the FLAC! [Torrent]

Artist focus: Let’s make character CG with Shimeko

Here is an experimental article; as I might do more artist focus in the future. I don’t expect their content to be always the same. Il will certainly depends of the material I have at hand and my knowledge. I have acquired Let’s Make Character CG 2 month ago, but as you could expect from the title, this is no artbook. So how will I review this book which certainly doesn’t fall in the artbook category? In term of illustration, there is only 3 new one in this book, certainly for the explanation. So instead of reviewing the book itself, I will dig inside Shimeko‘s artstyle as I flip through the pages of this book as she has a truly unique artstyle which I appreciate very much. I have limited skills when it comes to drawing and coloring, but I hope this will also help people who are learning, as I’m filling this article under the “Learning to draw” tag. The new illustrations are processed and saved in PNG, the rest is raw resized JPG. [PNG: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4]

Road to printing: Page Layout and Ink

To continue the series of article, I will deal here with the layout of artbooks and the ink used for printing. While I wrote this article a few weeks ago, I added a paragraph for the page layout and the C77 provided me with some visual example for printing sample.

Quick loot and small reviews

Happy belated new year. I intended to make posts for Christmas and New year but I have been quite busy and I wasn’t sure about what to put, so my apologize.
My long awaited artbooks are finally here. Well I have been waiting for this shipment since last month, but as the 100 masters of Bishojo painting was first delayed, then out of stock, I couldn’t receive it in time before I leave my home for 2 weeks. But now that I’m back, I can get it. It’s a rather small loot compared to the madness I unleashed for C77 but this will be seen in time. For now, it’s just small reviews as these artbooks have already been reviewed and I share the same sentiment as their reviewers.
