Scans: Colorful Pop 1
I haven’t updated for a little while; I have mainly been resting since I finally some time and I felt like I was neglecting myself. Now it’s time to empty the scan buffer before starting digging into C77. I will keep this post short since people should be familiar with Izumi Tsubasu. Colorful Pop is her long series of full color doujinshi released promptly for Comiket… well not always but we are already at the 7th issue. Flipping it from Colorful Pop 1 to 7, it’s really easy to notice how Izumi Tsubasu improved, as well as her support. The firsts Colorful Pop are on cardboard paper while the latter one use plastic paper, which is a lot better. And I just noticed that one page need to be rescanned, sorry orz. I will correct it later. [PNG]
Well, I better say that since it’s the first Colorful Pop, the artwork lacks a lot of polish. Some people might not get those old doujinshi considering that the artist lacked experience back then.
However numbered issue always bothered me; I’m pretty sure some people are annoyed when there is an hole in a series. So I searched this one for quite some time and in the end, it wasn’t cheap.
Contrary to later issue, this Colorful Pop has a lot of fanart. At release time, she worked on Aozora no Mieru Oka, which is also my first contact with her. Chance are that it’s what made her well known.
There are very few original illustrations which are my favorite, but every artist have to start from there first.
The coloring is a lot less vibrant than now, and there are less details. But the basis are here, especially the eyes which have already have a lot of element defining her style.
So here is the missing Colorful Pop, the first one. It’s not stellar in anyway, and in fact I don’t recommend to get it for the art, but for the sake of completeness, I got it.

I love the Colorful Pop books; although I do not own any of them, I greatly enjoy the scans, and I hope someday Izumi Tsubasu will release a full artbook of pictures. I love her signature style of the color gradient in the eyes and hair. It’s so lovely!
I have only been able to find Colorful Pop 2 and 3 scans in parts; do you know where the full books may be posted?
If I had to pick a favorite volume, it might be 5 or 7, but it is so hard to pick one.
Maybe someday I will purchase them all!
Thanks so much for the scans.
